What is ‘Travis Picking’?
Travis picking is a technique named after Country legend Merle Travis. The method involves keeping a steady ‘backbone’ beat with your thumb whilst simultaneously playing treble notes with your fingers.
I will be covering the principles of Travis picking but also good hand position. I will also break down the technique into thumb exercises too (as mentioned earlier, the thumb is the backbone of this technique)
